The Easter egg symbolizes birth to Christians as the resurrection of Jesus Christ on the third day. Easter falls between 22 March and 25 April. Although Easter is a Christian festival, a lot of pre-Christian tradition has crept in. This is where the Easter bunny comes in. Easter was the name of a Teutonic Goddess of spring and fertility. Her festival was also celebrated during spring. In spring most animals give birth to their offspring. Traditions or symbols regarding this festival included the rabbit (a symbol of fertility and colourful eggs). The eggs are painted in bright colours which represent the sunlight of spring. |

My husband and I hide the colourful chocolate eggs in the garden. We love seeing the anticipation and excitement in the eyes of our children as they run through the garden searching for the eggs.
