What is the difference between a jersey woolly and a dwarf rabbit

Our rabbits are jersey woollies , but this term is not one that you would search a rabbit for in google.

The Jersey Wooly was developed by crossing the Netherland dwarf and the french angora. The result of this cross was an ideal small pet rabbit with a beautiful very easy-to-care-for coat.

They have compact body type. The ears are small and erect, standing about 2 1/4 inches in length. 3 inch ears are the maximum length allowed for exhibition stock per the ARBA’s Standard of Perfection. The head is bold and squarish which lead the breed to being affectionately referred to. These rabbits are very affectionate and playful. They love to be around other animals especially cats and dogs that are not hunter breeds or have a heavy prey instinct. They are very social. Jersey Woolies are very intelligent and can be taught some simple tricks. Most Jersey Woolies have very friendly personalities. As pets they range from laid-back lap bunnies to outgoing explorers. (thanks Wikipedia)

Keeping cages free of droppings will make your grooming sessions much easier as well. Rabbits tend to take to using a litter box fairly easily, add a small tray to the cage and line it with straw or dried grass daily to encourage your bunny to use it.

Offering straw or grass has the added benefit of helping to reduce the possibility of wool block.

Rabbits do not need vaccinations, so no regular visits to the veterinarian

Rabbits make very little noise.

It is great fun and good exercise chasing a rabbit around the garden.

It does not cost much to feed a rabbit.

Rabbits enjoy socializing and playing games. You can put cardboard boxes, paper bags and the inner part of toilet rolls in the cage for them to play with. You can also build tunnels with pvc pipes. Just make sure the pipes are wide enough so that your bunny can’t get stuck. Toys made for cats and birds are also great for the bunnies to play with.

Compared to other caged pets, rabbits tend to be more trainable and tamer. With regular cuddling of the bunnies, they tend to become more and more tame and easy to handle.

Rabbits are great companions who love to have fun with you.
